According to the Centers for Disease Control, there are no obligatory vaccines you need before traveling to Vietnam, but it does recommend a series of vaccines. These are especially important if you plan on traveling to remote locations within the country. Major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh are relatively clean and safe, but rural areas are more prone to outbreaks of dengue, Japanese encephalitis and typhoid.
